• Medal Rana Wickrama Padakkama was instituted in 1981.
• Medal is awarded to all ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for Individual or associated acts of bravery in the face of the enemy and performed voluntarily.
• The recipient of the decoration will be entitled to use the symbol ‘RWP’ after his/her name.
