Medal Rana Sura Padakkama was instituted in 1981.
Medal is awarded to all ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for distinguished conduct in the face of the enemy.
The recipient of the decoration will be entitled to use the symbol ‘RSP’ after his/her name.
