Order was instituted on 1 March 1941.
Order is awarded to Hondurans and foreigners for extraordinary achievement in both civil and military fields.
Order is awarded in six grades: Grand Cross with Gold Star, Grand Cross with Silver Star, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
Francisco Morazán - Honduran politician who was president of the Federal Republic of Central America from 1830 to 1839.
